Pump Pits

It is very important to make sure a pump pit is free from debris to ensure the longevity of the pump. Stows Waste Management have the capability to pump out debris and check the operation of the pump pit. Where a pump pit has failed we can recommend a number of companies to either repair or replace the pump.

  • Prior to pumping a pit we check to see if it is operating correctly
  • Our operators check and clean the floats
  • Pump out all solids and sludge
  • Refill the pump pit and make sure it is operational prior to leaving the site.

Grease Traps

A grease trap is designed to intercept greases and solids before entering the sewer system. Your local Water Authority will advise you of a pump out frequency required. Stows Waste Management can provide you with routine scheduled pump out reminders. Our service consists of but not limited to the following:

  • Each grease trap will have all lids removed for thorough access
  • The contents will be completely pumped out
  • All interior surfaces, sides, baffles and lids will be cleaned and scraped
  • The interiors will be hosed and the rinse liquid and debris pumped again until the pits are completely clean
  • The lids replaced correctly, exactly as found
  • The exteriors of the grease trap will be left in an accessible and working condition and deodorised.
  • Any defects noticed in pits or warning lights will be immediately reported to maintenance staff and centre management
  • Waste collected in the above-mentioned pumping and cleaning operations will be transported to an EPA Licensed Schedule IV Premises for recycling.
  • Service will be logged off with the appropriate water authority.

Spill Clean-ups

Every so often, our team are contacted to attend a spill clean-up. This can range from small spills to large complex spills requiring specialty equipment. Upon arrival to site our field operators will contain the spill taking all measures to eliminate spillage into water ways. If a large cleanup is required, Stows will assign a site supervisor to oversee the service requirements from start to finish.

Stows have a broad range of bulk bins ranging from 11 to 30 cubic metres to suit all dry waste requirements which are available for long or short term hire. We operate modern hook lift vehicles which include hydraulic tarping systems that improve safety and saves time.

Triple Interceptor Waste Removal

Triple Interceptors are found in a range of industries such as car wash facilities and manufacturing. Their purpose is to contain waste oils and sludge from entering the sewer system. It is important to pump these out periodically to avoid blockages which can stop your business from trading. All our vehicles are EPA accredited vacuum tankers and an EPA is issued upon request.

Spray Booth Waste Removal

Many industries require a spray booth as part of their production process. Every so often a spray booth requires a pump out keeping it maintained for the long term.

Elevator Lift Pits

Occasionally a lift pit may get flooded with storm water, sewer or hydraulic oils. Our team has the capability to pump out the contents, remove any rubbish and deodorise the area. A qualified technician will be required to raise the lift for safe access to the area. Our field operators will also ensure the exterior will be left in a clean condition.

Septic Tanks

Septic tanks require periodic preventative maintenance to continue functioning efficiently. Our experience with Septic tanks is they require a pump out de-sludge approximately every three years. It is easy to forget when a septic was last pumped out and when it is next due for a service. Our operations team can schedule a periodic reminder into our database to prevent events of emergency.

Type of Septic Tanks

  • Septic Treatment plants – upwards of 4,000 litres
  • Do Not flush Sanitary products or Wet Wipes down the toilet
  • Do not build a shed or patio over the septic tank
  • Use environmentally friendly detergents

It is important to know the location of your septic tank and have the septic tanks lids exposed prior to our attendance. We do recommend the following:

The Septic tank Sewage Waste will be transported to our licensed sewer discharge facility.

Sewer Disposal Service

We operate own and operate a bulk ducted sewerage disposal point under a license agreement with Yarra Valley Water (YVW), and in accordance with applicable guidelines at 13 Dennis Street Campbellfield.

Hours of operations for our Melbourne sewer disposal dump and its services are:
Monday – Friday 7.30am – 16:30pm (excluding declared public holidays).

Sewer disposal services outside of these hours can be arranged in order to suit your business needs, but prior notice must be given. Please note that a surcharge does apply to this service.

All users of the site are required to enter into a Sewage Disposal Agreement with Stows Waste Management.

Before accepting any delivery of sewage at the premises, the sewage will be inspected and sampled. Representative samples are taken from loads and sent for analysis. Volumes and pH are then measured and recorded on site. This process is reviewed regularly and audited annually for compliance under our licence agreement. If a load does not meet the required criteria, it will be rejected and YVW will be informed.
